The San Jose Sharks announced Sunday that John Ferguson Jr. and three others have joined their scouting staff.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager will join the club where his late father worked as a scout and adviser for nearly 11 years.
“To me, it is a great opportunity,” said Ferguson. “[My dad’s] experiences with the organization were great. The organization has known continued success and the goals are realistic and high.”
Ferguson Jr. was fired by Toronto in January after nearly five years as general manager. Toronto went 145-110-30 with 10 ties during his tenure, but haven't made the playoffs since 2004.
