Eger fires final-round 64 to earn two-shot win at Canadian Tour event

SEAFORTH, Ont. — Kent Eger of Regina fired a final-round 7-under 64 Sunday to capture the Canadian Tour's Seaforth Country Classic by two strokes over Wil Collins, John Ellis and Daniel Im.

Eger's 72-hole total of 26 under fell one stroke shy of Tim Clark's Canadian Tour record set at the 1998 New Brunswick Open.

Derek Gillespie of Oshawa, Ont., closed with a 64 to grab solo fifth while Andrew Parr of London, Ont. (66), Dong Yi (65) and Adam Bland (69) shared sixth spot at 21 under par 263.

"How's my confidence? It's great now," said Eger with a big laugh. "When you're in contention, you're confident. Once you get in the moment, you become more focused and block everything else out. The problem is getting there."
